Learnology, Co. Ltd. was established by Dr. Masato Homma in 2004 to promote “learnology,” a new science of life-long and life-wide learning. The Tokyo-headquartered firm offers open seminars as well as corporate in-house training and consultation on “business coaching”, “strategic planning”, “facilitator training” and “organizational development based on appreciative inquiry”.

Accredited as Professional Certified Coach (PCC) by the International Coach Federation (ICF), Dr. Homma has trained thousands of executives and managers throughout Japan and Asia. He is also Adjunct Professor of Business Communication at LCA Graduate School of Business and at Tezukayama Gakuin University in Osaka, Board Member of Japan Coach Association, and Executive Director, Learnology International, a non-profit organization headquartered in Tokyo. With a certificate in appreciative inquiry from Case Weatherhead School of Business, he co-founded AI Consulting Japan, Inc. to promote positive organizational development.
Dr. Homma has authored and coauthored the total of sixteen books, including “Introduction to Business Coaching”, “Coaching Scenarios for Effective Management: Part I and II”, “Captainship: An Emerging Leadership Model for Players in Action”, “Coaching for a Player/Manager” and most recently “Introduction to Self-Coaching”. Among these, “168 Hours: Life and Work Harmony through Innovative Time Design” and “Art of Constructive Feedback” have been translated and published in Korea. He has supervised four sets of educational videotapes and two correspondence courses on coaching. He hosted “Business World in English” in 2002 and 2004 on NHK Education Channel.
Dr. Homma earned B.A. in sociology (1982) from University of Tokyo, Master of Planning degree from Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs, and Ph. D. in adult education (1998) from University of Minnesota. At Matsushita Seikeijuku (Matsushita School of Government and Management), he was interviewed, handpicked and mentored by Mr. Konosuke Matsushita, Founder of Panasonic. During the five years at Seikeijuku, he worked at the United Nations International Youth Year Secretariat in Vienna and then at the Institute for Domestic and International Policy Studies as Special Assistant to Dr. Saburo Okita, former Foreign Minister of Japan. At the IDIPS, he had opportunities to observe such high-level conferences as the Club of Rome, North-South Roundtable, and World Commission on Environment and Development.
His other professional positions include Interim Trade Representative for Japan at Minnesota Trade Office, Manager of Research at Matsushita Institute. He has served on the boards of the Japan Federation of UNESCO Clubs and the National Assembly for Youth Development. Recognizing his leadership and international experience, Prime Minister's Office appointed Mr. Homma as National Leader in the Ship for World Youth Program in 1996. He is a founding member of Japan Society for International Development, and Associate Fellow of World Academy of Art and Science.
